What the Doover connector can see and store
This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to your data when you connect Doover to Claude or ChatGPT. The formal version is in the Doover privacy policy.
The short version
- The assistant can only see and do what your Doover account can.
- Doover never sees your conversation. We only see the requests the assistant makes to Doover, such as "list devices".
- Whatever the assistant reads from Doover becomes part of your conversation with Claude or ChatGPT, and is handled under your agreement with Anthropic or OpenAI.
- We keep a usage record of which Doover actions were used, without the contents, for 12 months.
What the assistant can access
When you connect, you sign in with your Doover account. From then on, every request the assistant makes runs as you, through the same checks the Doover app uses. It can reach:
- devices, groups and organisations you can see
- live and historical device data on channels you can read
- apps, solutions, deployments, reports, schedules and tunnels you can see
- Doover's built-in guide to how the platform works
It cannot reach:
- billing, payment or subscription details
- organisation membership management (inviting or removing people)
- device installation credentials
- anything your Doover role can't already access
Changes, commands and deployments only happen when the assistant asks and you approve.
Where your data goes
You ⇄ Claude / ChatGPT ⇄ Doover connector (mcp.doover.com) ⇄ Doover platform
- You ask your assistant a question.
- The assistant decides which Doover actions to use and sends them to the Doover connector.
- Doover runs each action as you and returns the result to the assistant.
- The assistant uses the result to answer you.
The results in step 3 (for example, a device's readings) are sent to the AI provider you chose. They're stored and processed there under that provider's terms and your account settings, such as chat history and data-training preferences. Doover doesn't control what Anthropic or OpenAI do with conversation content. Check your plan's data settings with them.
What Doover records
Your sign-in
When you approve access, Doover stores a sign-in record that lets the assistant keep working without asking you to log in every time. It's encrypted before it's stored and is only usable by the Doover connector. Disconnecting in Claude or ChatGPT stops it being used.
Usage records
To run and improve the connector, we record each time it's used:
| We record | We don't record |
|---|---|
| Which assistant connected (for example, "Claude" and its version), and when | Your conversation or prompts |
| Your Doover user and organisation | Device readings, message contents, or files |
| Which Doover action was used, whether it worked, and how long it took | The settings or values you changed |
| The names of the inputs used (for example, "device" and "channel") | Input values, apart from the four listed below |
The only input values we keep are identifiers we need to understand usage: a device ID, a channel name, an organisation ID, and the guide topic requested.
Usage records are kept for 365 days and then deleted.
Requests to the guide
Doover's built-in guide explains how the platform works. If the assistant can't find a topic in it, it may send us one sentence describing what was missing, for example "How to set up an alarm on a tank level". We read these to decide what to add to the guide. The assistant writes the sentence, so it may reflect what you were asking about. It's stored with your usage records for 365 days. Don't put sensitive information in a question you want the guide to answer.
Standard request logs
Like every request to the Doover app, connector requests appear in our standard server logs (address, time, and outcome), which are kept for 100 days for security and fault-finding.
What we don't do
- We don't sell this data.
- We don't use it to train AI models.
- We don't share it with Anthropic or OpenAI, beyond the results the assistant asks for on your behalf.
Your choices
- Turn it off for one chat: use the connector or plugin toggle in your assistant.
- Disconnect: see Claude or ChatGPT.
- Ask us to delete your usage records or for a copy: email info@doover.com.
Where it's stored
The Doover connector and platform run in Australia, as described in our privacy policy.
