Frequently asked questions
Supported Notification Clients
Notifications are officially supported on the following devices:
- macOS (including iPadOS): Safari >16.0
- iOS: Safari >16.0
Some notes about other browsers and devices:
Chrome on Android: Notifications are supported, but the app must remain in the foreground, but "Optimise Battery Usage" must be disabled for the PWA in system settings.
Edge on Android: Notifications are supported, but the app must remain in the foreground (the above setting does not work, if the app is closed you won't receive notifications).
macOS: PWA installation is supported (on Edge, Chrome), but Apple does not allow notifications from any browser other than Safari.
Chrome on Windows: Notifications are supported, but the app must remain open (background or foreground).
Edge on Windows: Notifications don't work at all.
Firefox and Linux have not been tested.
Enabling notifications for some of these browsers can be dangerous as the may seem to work, but you will might receive a notification (or receive them sporadically). In many cases, we won't attempt to send a backup notification to your SMS or email (since it appears to work from our end), and you may miss important alerts. Please take care!
If you find any issues with supported clients, or successfully use notifications on an unsupported client, please let us know.
